The small State of Israel of the fifties and sixties turns in Jews Blue into a magical american fantasy. A sleepy village on the coast, surrounded by orange orchards, is the focus of an endless war of attrition and UFO's fly in the sky, while on the ground Defense officials, underground rock musicians, small entrepreneurs and a sad film producer, who wants to create a Tel Aviv version of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers, all intermingle in strange and mysterious ways.
Rogel Alpher was born in 1967 and studied philosophy at the Tel Aviv University. He has written for a number of newspapers on art and culture and anchored a TV cultural affairs show. Jews Blues is his third book.
